As a licensed professional school counselor, I am trained in both education and counseling, with an understanding on how to respond to students’ unique challenges. I work as an advocate for students and their families to help ensure their needs are being met. In the school I provide services in small groups, classroom presentations, and individual counseling. Parents with concerns may contact me in person, by phone, or by e-mail. I look forward to providing my services in McDonald Schools.
Counseling Mission Statement: To support all students in fulfilling their maximum potential in a safe and positive environment. Students will gain the knowledge to develop their academic, career, and personal/social skills in order to become valuable members of society.
As a school counselor I believe:
-School counselors should provide a comprehensive counseling program not based only on providing career and college guidance, but based on providing students with the services they need to be successful academically and socially as well.
-Student needs are best met by implementing a comprehensive school counseling program that is developmentally appropriate.
-Students should have high standards to meet academically with the purpose of becoming career and college ready.
As a school counselor I will:
-Serve all students to the best of my ability by following the American School Counseling Association’s Counselor Competencies.
-Apply the American School Counseling Association’s Ethical Standards to make decisions based on the highest moral principles.
-Work with administrators, teachers, parents, and community members based upon an atmosphere of mutual respect.
