With prom season right around the corner, McDonald High School students are stepping up to make safety a priority. On Thursday, students in grades 10–12 participated in a powerful SMASH (Students Making A Safer Highway) Assembly that encouraged them to make smart decisions during prom and graduation season by signing the PROM PROMISE. Led by McDonald students Juliana Krumpak, Brooke Bosheff, Gracie Callow, and Drew Zajack, the event highlighted the importance of driving responsibly and avoiding distractions and impairment. These four students have been attending meetings at the Trumbull County Educational Service Center hosted by the Ohio State Highway Patrol throughout the school year to learn more about traffic safety and bring that message back to their peers. After viewing a realistic mock crash and hearing from the McDonald Police Department about the dangers of unsafe driving, students were invited to sign the PROM PROMISE—a pledge to make safe, responsible choices. Those who signed the PROM PROMISE received a Chick-fil-A gift card, reinforcing that doing the right thing has its rewards. All juniors and seniors, as well as sophomores attending prom, were eligible to sign the pledge. The event also included an obstacle course and “drunk goggles” to help students experience first hand how dangerous impaired driving can be. By signing the PROM PROMISE, McDonald students are showing that they’re not just ready for a great prom night—they’re ready to make it a safe one. Thank you to Chick-fil-A Boardman for donating the cards and A&M Towing for donating the vehicle!

🎶 We’re thrilled to announce that our elementary and high school music programs have been awarded grants from the GPD Foundation! 🎉 🎹 Our elementary students now have a full set of MIDI keyboards—plug-and-play with their Chromebooks for an exciting new way to create and explore music! 🎼 Students in grades 5–12 will each receive a personal tuner caddy, helping them fine-tune their instruments and sharpen their sound. A huge thank you to the GPD Foundation for investing in the future of our young musicians. These tools will fuel creativity, build confidence, and elevate music education for years to come! 🎵💙

29 years to the day! Selah, Juliana, Naomi, and Kylie broke a long-standing school record in the Distance Medley Relay today at the Walsh Jesuit Warrior Relays! The previous record was set on April 19, 1996, but these girls rewrote history with an incredible time of 12:42.71, smashing the old mark of 13:00. Huge congratulations on this amazing achievement!

The Junior Class invites you to The Gatsby Gala on May 2nd at the Eastwood Event Centre in Niles! Promenade begins at 6:00 pm in the Gamertsfelder Auditorium, with the gala following at 7:00 pm. Tickets are $40 and will be on sale April 10th - 15th in the high school commons.

🎉 6th Grade Celebration! ⚾ Our 6th-grade students hit it out of the park! They celebrated completing the ELA state test and the Guardians’ Opening Day with a fun, baseball-themed party. Way to go, team! 💪📚🎈

Our McDonald National Honor Society students have been making a difference! 💙💛 On March 31st, a few of our NHS members had the privilege of serving dinner to the clients at the Youngstown Rescue Mission, sharing kindness and compassion with those in need. 🥘🙏 They also had a blast playing Bingo with the residents of Woodland Park Apartments, bringing smiles and laughter to their day! 🎉✨

Director 🎬 Ben Gavitt chose Alice in Wonderland 🎙️ for the 2025 MHS Drama Devils ✨ to perform 🎭 during the weekend of March 21-22 for both classmates and the community. On March 21, the Drama Devils held a matinee performance for their fellow classmates and teachers. On March 22, they hosted a tea party 🍵🎉 meet-and-greet with the cast 🧑‍🧑‍🧒‍🧒 before their final show at 7 p.m. 🕑
