Recent Attendance Policy Changes:

Recent Attendance Policy Changes:

  • In December of 2016, The State of Ohio enacted House Bill 410 to encourage and support a preventative approach to excessive absences and truancy (please refer to https://education.ohio.gov).

  • The student call-off policies for the MHS 2018-19 school year have changed, and are not listed in the current handbook.  If you received a letter from the MHS Attendance Office regarding your student's attendance record, and have not yet responded to the letter that was mailed home on October 22 and 23, please call the call-off line to leave the reason your student was absent for the dates listed in the letter.  If you do not respond, your student will receive an automatic unexcused absence for any time period they are not in school, and have not been reported off as absent.  Please review the current attendance policies on page 19 of the student handbook.  If your student is absent and NOT reported off within 24 hours of the absence, the absence will be UNEXCUSED, and may receive a detention.

  • The attendance office will be enforcing the 72 hour rule for excused absence documentation.  If your student is absent, and has documentation relating to the absence, the documentation must be submitted within 72 hours of the absence to have the absence excused.  Reminder:  Your student's safety is of the utmost importance. We need to know their where-a-bouts during the course of the school day.If your student is going to be absent, please report them absent to the call-off line.  Also,  If you receive an automated  oneallnow.com voice mail or text for your student's absence either in the am or pm,  please call them off.
