Today our McDonald High School Student Council helped spread kindness across the district with special activities for both buildings!
💙 At Roosevelt Elementary, our high school leaders guided students in adding their colorful handprints to the “At McDonald We Are Kind” banner: a fun and meaningful way to celebrate choosing kindness. 🫶
💙 At the High School, students enjoyed the “Be the I in KIND” hallway photo-op and handed out kindness stickers to brighten everyone’s day. 🫶
Huge thank-you to our Student Council members, Art Club, Mrs. Stonestreet, and Mrs. Mills for planning thoughtful activities and leading with heart. Today and every day… Be the I in KIND!

Last week, the MHS Art Club sold Boo Suckers, which were delivered this week to both the elementary and high school! 🎃 Students had the chance to purchase a sucker to “BOO” their friends and spread some spooky fun! 👻🍭

They transformed an unused area of the school into their own version of the Parisian Catacombs, where millions of corpses were housed during the 18th-century plague. For this immersive lesson, students decoded information in French from tombstones tied to famous historical figures to solve a series of challenging word puzzles.
Students described the experience as “a cross between National Treasure and The Goonies”, an eerily fun and educational adventure! 🗝️📜✨

After studying the works of Edgar Allan Poe, Mr. Domitrovich’s English 9 students designed and presented their own Coat of Arms projects. Each creation represented personal symbols, values, and themes inspired by Poe’s writing.
This activity brought literature and creativity together, allowing students to connect deeply with the text while expressing their individuality. Great work, English 9! 👏📚🖤

Last week, McDonald staff joined students in celebrating Red Ribbon Week (October 27–31) to promote healthy, drug-free lifestyles. The week began with lessons about the meaning behind the red ribbon and its significance. Students signed pledges to stay drug-free, helped decorate bulletin boards, and had a chance to win candy bars and Ianazone’s gift cards. Midweek, every student received a silicone bracelet as a reminder of their commitment, and on Thursday, everyone wore red to show their support. The week wrapped up with a special message on the morning announcements—reminding everyone to be kind to your mind and live drug-free! 💙

The McDonald Blue Devils boys and girls cross country teams both earned their way to the OHSAA Division IV State Championships in Obetz — an incredible accomplishment for our program! 💪
🔥 Naomi Sheesley led the girls with an outstanding 4th-place finish and time of 18:38.94.
💪 Joey Cappuzzello paced the boys with a 23rd-place finish in 16:14.56, wrapping up a strong season among the state’s top runners.
We’re so proud of all our Blue Devils for their hard work, determination, and teamwork all season long. What a way to represent McDonald on the biggest stage! 💙
