Dear Parent / Guardian:
Background Information:
Effective April 4, 2023, Ohio law requires the McDonald Local School District to provide age-appropriate instruction in child sexual abuse prevention, dating violence prevention, and sexual violence prevention as part of its health education curriculum. Specifically, the District is required to provide students in grades K-6, developmentally appropriate instruction in child sexual abuse prevention. Further, the District is also required to provide students in grades 7-12 with developmentally appropriate instruction in dating violence and sexual violence prevention.
Program Materials and Resources:
The McDonald Local Schools respects the rights of parents and guardians to make decisions regarding their child’s education. As such, and upon request, you may examine the materials associated with your child’s instruction in child sexual abuse prevention, dating violence prevention, and/or sexual violence prevention as part of the District’s health education curriculum. If you would like to request such materials, please contact Mr. Jones at 330-530-8051.

Out-Out Option:
Please note that, upon written request, your child may be excused from receiving instruction in child sexual abuse prevention, dating violence prevention, and/or sexual violence prevention. If you wish to excuse your child, please complete and submit the enclosed Parent/Guardian Opt-Out Form to Mr. Jones on or before April 3, 2024. If you have any additional questions or concerns regarding your child’s instruction in child sexual abuse prevention, dating violence prevention, or sexual violence prevention as required by Ohio law, please don’t hesitate to contact my office directly.
